This special issue of Journal of Medical Robotics Research (JMRR) will feature outstanding original research presented at the 16th Asian Conference on Computer Aided Surgery (ACCAS) held online on November 27-28, 2020. Launched in 2015, JMRR is an emerging scientific journal bringing the state-of-the-art scientific and technological developments and clinical evaluations in the area of medical robotics to the audience with various backgrounds. JMRR and ACCAS share many of their scopes, including, but not limited to, robot-assisted surgery, image-guided interventions, surgical simulation, and surgical navigation. JMRR is indexed and abstracted in Scopus and Embase as well as other leading index archives.
This special issue aims to bridge the two rapidly-growing communities to allow their members to reach a broader audience. To ensure the seamless delivery of ACCAS’s most exciting presentations, the senior authors of invited papers may also be invited to the team of guest editors for this special issue.

External reviewers who are not at the conference may be invited to provide an unbiased review. The decision to the final acceptance of the paper will be made less than 90 days after the original submission. The journal will be issued before the ACCAS 2021.
